Josh Tolley – MBA Programs Produce Managers, not Entrepreneurs

“Homeschool families have an amazing opportunity when it comes to teaching their children about entrepreneurship, because what we see in schools… what we see in mass education is that we have a system that has to be graded, and if it has to be graded then it has to be taught to all students the same. This is the reason when people come to me and say, “Josh what MBA program in college should I go partake in to be a great entrepreneur?” I say, “none”, because MBA programs produce great managers. They don’t create great entrepreneurs, because great entrepreneurs have to do something that isn’t easily replicable, and when you have four thousand kids all getting their MBA this year they all got graded on the same criteria all you did was create four thousand people that are going to replicate answers and expect results. The opportunity for homeschoolers lies in the fact that everything can be customizable and applicable.” – Josh Tolley

Hope for Homeschooling Struggling Learners – Anna Meli, Dealing with Dyslexia

Anna attended public preschool and kindergarten, but severe dyslexia caused her mom, who knew she was smart and capable, to bring her home in order to keep her from being improperly labeled and segregated by the public schools. While her education wasn’t easy, her mom persisted and finally found a program that allowed her to learn to read. Even though reading is still a struggle and she didn’t learn to read until very late, homeschooling allowed her the freedom to pursue other passions and talents and provided the individualized education that she needed to succeed.

Thank you Connie Albers and Colleen Kessler for a fun night! We stayed up late interviewing these brilliant leaders in the homeschooling community. These ladies are so generous in their support of homeschooling. It was a great pleasure to watch them pour into peoples’ lives at their booths and in their sessions. You will be blessed by their contributions to Schoolhouse Rocked.
