We had the privilege of interviewing Sarah at the 2017 Great Homeschool Convention in Greenville, SC. In this interview she talks about the importance of reading aloud to your kids, and gives heartfelt encouragement to homeschooling moms struggling to keep up.
In this short segment Yvette talks with Dr. Jennifer Murff, president of Future Leader Lab and Millennials for Marriage. Dr. Murff is a homeschool mom of four, a college professor, and a homeschooling and family advocate. She talks about how she is balancing family, homeschool, and work, and how even though most of the time she feels competent as a mom and wife, the thought of homeschooling brought new challenges and doubts. Thankfully, God has equipped her, like he equips other parents, to be exactly what her children need.
“I want you to know, the time that you invest is oh so worth it. Those days when you feel like you’re a failure, those days when you feel like you’re going to ruin your child, you just keep showing up. Motherhood is the ministry of showing up. Show up moms. Show up every day. Be patient. Be diligent. Be faithful. God will reward you when you do not grow weary and quit. It’s always too soon to quit! The cool thing is, you can finish this race well. You can finish this race with kids who actually like you. You can finish this race with a family that’s intact. You can finish this race with kids who are able to stand strong in this world, that can take their place in the marketplace, that can function well in society, that can love the Lord and really make a difference in this world. And you have that opportunity when you choose to homeschool. And you just keep pressing on, and you keep leaning in to the Lord when those days are super hard. You can do it! I know you can!” – Connie Albers
