The massively talented, Graeme Pitman, of CiRCE Institute had been working on Graphics for the DVD, Blu-ray, and poster. I am happy to say that we are very close to a final design and YOU, our Backstage Pass Members, get to see it before it is released into the wild.
Garritt and Yvette Hampton didn’t set out to film Schoolhouse Rocked on a whim. Making this movie required a huge change for their family. Answering a call from God, they sold their house, cars, and possessions, to set out across the country filming this important homeschool documentary.
In October, 2017, Garritt and Yvette shared their story at the 2:1 conference in Herndon, Virginia. In this talk they don’t just talk about the steps they took in obedience to God’s calling on their lives, but they gave practical advice for hearing and responding to God’s calling for you.
A behind the scenes look at the making of Scholé, a short documentary that examines the practice and philosophy of teaching your children from a state of rest. It is our submission to the My RØDE Reel 2018 Short Film Competition.
Author Sarah Mackenzie wrote the hugely influential book, Teaching from Rest. The philosophies in the book were based on the ideas of classical education experts Andrew Kern and Dr. Christopher Perrin. In her book Sarah was able to refine these ideas into practical everyday ideas that have revolutionized homeschooling for scores of thankful readers.
We had a great time in Nashville. While we were there we wrapped up interviews for the upcoming homeschool documentary, Schoolhouse Rocked. We had the privilege of visiting Teach Them Diligently and loved meeting some of the excellent speakers. To top off the month we got to attend the Christian Worldview Film Festival, where the trailer for Schoolhouse Rocked was an official selection.
The Road to Portland is a short documentary we filmed in December when we flew to Washington to interview several families for Schoolhouse Rocked. While in Washington, we were privileged to spend time with pastor and author Scott LaPierre, his sweet wife Katie, and their 6 kids. We were blessed by our time with the LaPierre family and the people of Woodland Christian Church, who welcomed us warmly.
On a down day we headed to Portland, Oregon to film some street interviews. We met some great people in Portland and were happy to hear what they thought about homeschooling. The Road to Portland highlights that day and those interviews.
