Louisville Teacher Arrested for Explicit Sexual Conversations and Attempted Meet-Up with 5th-Grade Boy
LOUISVILLE, KY - Sydnee Graf, a 36-year-old fifth-grade math teacher at Smyrna Elementary School in Louisville, Kentucky, was arrested on December 15, 2025, after allegedly engaging in explicit sexual conversations with a male student under the age of 12 during a virtual Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) day. The investigation began when Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) police alerted Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) detectives to the potential exploitation of the juvenile. Authorities reviewed screenshots and video recordings of the interactions, which included discussions of oral sodomy.
Graf reportedly arranged to meet the student that same day and was apprehended by police while attempting to pick him up near his residence. After being read her Miranda rights, she admitted to the conversations, according to the arrest citation. She faces charges including procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means, a felony, with some reports also noting additional drug possession charges discovered during the arrest.
In response, Smyrna Elementary Principal Amanda Cooper notified parents via letter, emphasizing student safety and stating that Graf would be reassigned with no student contact during the investigation. The letter read in part: "The safety of our students is our top priority... Following JCPS protocols, the staff member will be reassigned and will not have contact with students during the investigation... Our mental health team is always available."
Graf pleaded not guilty at her arraignment, with bond set at $100,000 cash; the case has been referred to a grand jury.
