Texas High School Senior Charged with Murder After Stabbing Classmate with Scissors
Fatal School Stabbing Over Vape Pen Dispute Claims Teen's Life
Baytown, Tx. — On December 17, 2025, an 18-year-old senior at Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas, named Aundre Lebron Demond Matthews, was arrested and charged with murder in the stabbing death of 16-year-old sophomore Andrew Meismer. The incident stemmed from a dispute over a $21 THC vape pen that Matthews accused Meismer of stealing. Surveillance footage captured the two students, who appeared friendly, entering a classroom together before excusing themselves to the restroom, where the argument began. Matthews allegedly searched Meismer, found a pair of scissors, and placed them in his waistband.
The confrontation escalated when the pair moved to an empty lab classroom. A female student overheard Matthews demanding repayment for the vape pen and witnessed him strike Meismer, leading to a fight. Prosecutors allege Matthews told police that Meismer punched him twice, prompting him, in fear of being overpowered, to grab the scissors and stab Meismer in the neck. The female student saw blood pouring from Meismer's wound and yelled for help, drawing a teacher who attempted to separate them. Meismer was airlifted to a hospital but was pronounced dead from a puncture wound to the neck.
Matthews is being held on a $3 million bond, with his next court date set for January 7, 2026. His attorney requested a reduced bond of $500,000, citing no prior criminal history. The tragedy has deeply affected the school community, with Meismer's girlfriend, Ikelle Fevrier, describing him as well-liked: "He had deep connections with everyone and I'm trying not to only think of myself right now and also support everyone who loved him." Matthews's attorney did not respond to requests for comment.
