Oklahoma special education teacher arrested for abusing non-verbal 6 year old student
OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. — “An Oklahoma City metro teacher is under investigation after claims of abuse toward a student were reported to police.
Body cam footage from the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office shows deputies confronting and arresting Roderick Kohl, a Special Education teacher at Council Grove Elementary in the Western Heights School District.
Deputies say Kohl is accused of throwing a computer mouse at a six-year-old non-verbal student with autism, hitting the student in the head.” - News 9
“The Western Heights Public School District has issued the following statement regarding the situation:
‘... On October 9, 2025, district administrators were notified of suspected abuse involving a teacher and a student.
Immediately upon receiving this information, the teacher was placed on leave, and law enforcement, DHS, and the Oklahoma State Department of Education were contacted. We also notified the student's family and the families of all students in that classroom. Law enforcement has taken appropriate action, and we continue to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.
We want to assure you that Western Heights Public School takes the safety and well being of our students extremely seriously. Abuse of any kind will not be tolerated in our district...’” - Fox 25 KOKH
