Drumright, Oklahoma teacher, Bobby Pruitt arrested on multiple child abuse charges
Longtime Educator Faces Felony Counts After Reports of Inappropriate Contact at Oklahoma Public School
DRUMRIGHT, OK — A former agriculture teacher at Drumright Public Schools in Oklahoma, Bobby Pruitt, aged 63, was arrested on February 1, 2026, following an investigation into allegations of sexual and physical abuse of students. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) assisted the Drumright Police Department after reports surfaced on October 7, 2025, revealing inappropriate contact with two students across multiple incidents. Pruitt, who had taught for 38 years in various Oklahoma districts, faces serious felony charges stemming from these accusations.
The timeline began with Pruitt being placed on administrative leave on October 6, 2025, amid the emerging reports. He resigned from his position on October 29, 2025, and voluntarily surrendered his teaching license to the Oklahoma State Board of Education. After evading initial detection, Pruitt was located in Stroud and apprehended by the United States Marshals Service and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He was booked into the Creek County Jail on a $1 million bond, with charges filed in Creek County District Court.
“Based on the evidence gathered, the Creek County District Court issued an arrest warrant charging Pruitt with:
Two counts of lewd molestation
Two counts of child sexual abuse
Two counts of child abuse
One count of assault and battery” News 9
The OSBI's ongoing investigation highlights the involvement of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Drumright Police Department. Authorities encourage anyone with additional information to come forward.
Similar recent Oklahoma cases include the 2025 conviction and sentencing of former Choctaw-Nicoma Park High School choir teacher Samuel Melton, who pleaded guilty to multiple serious sex crimes (such as three counts of second-degree rape, four counts of first-degree rape by instrumentation, four counts of forcible oral sodomy, and four counts of sexual battery) after a year-long inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old female student on campus. He received a 42-year sentence (with 17 years to serve), described by prosecutors as one of the longest for such school-related predation in the state.
Another notable case is former Stilwell teacher Lawrence Fourkiller, sentenced in late 2024 to 35 years for aggravated sexual abuse of a child, stemming from federal charges in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
A former Mustang High School teacher facing trial on charges including second-degree rape and sexual battery for alleged misconduct from 2014-2017.
While not all abuse school cases involve physical assault alongside sexual elements, such as in Pruitt's charges, many underscore recurring issues in Oklahoma public schools, prompting legislative efforts to prevent "passing the trash" (where accused educators move districts without disclosure).
